Waterworks is a pioneering example of modern water treatment

The Danish water utility company Vandcenter Djurs has built a new waterworks in the city Sostrup. A waterworks with the ambition to be a pioneeering example in Denmark of modern water treatment both in function and architecture.

Visibility of the knowledge, technology and process associated with groundwater management is a key element in the design and location of the water treatment plant and the architecture of the building. Facades to the north and south provide views into the filter hall, where two freestanding stainless steel clean water tanks are accompanied by two filter lines, each with two pressure filter units.

The waterworks is fully automated and the drinking water is monitored 24/7/365 to ensure that quality standards and limits are met for turbidity and oxygen. To ensure water quality in the event of bacteriological contamination, UV systems are installed at the outlet of the waterworks.
